It's a genuine clay-buster, improving structure in heavy soils and replenishing nutrients in depleted ones, while encouraging bug and worm activity as it breaks down. Spread a 3–4cm layer over the soil and fork it into the top 15–20cm, or apply as a no-dig mulch — ideal around roses, vegetable plots, trees and shrubs, though best kept away from ericaceous plants.
